select all the graphic objects that are in the design you want to see how many colors are in...
You can do that by placing your mouse above and to the left away from the objects in the design and then dragging the mouse down to the bottom right below all of the objects. below and to the right of all the objects. HOLD DOWN THE LEFT MOUSE KEY WHILE DOING THIS.
Now all the objects in the art you want the color information about are selected. right?
Leave them selected and then do this...
Click Window>Color palettes>Create palette from selection.
You will then need to give the palette a name, I just name these palettes selected. and save the palette.
and you will now have a new palette in Corel to upper right of the application window and this palette will show all the colors in the design.
If grab the top of that palette holding down you right mouse key you move it into your main application window for better viewing.
Some of the colors may be tints or percentages of colors so you will need position your mouse over to the colors to see the exact name of the colors in the palette. It might show 10 colors which are actuall percentages of 4 colors.
Also if you right click on the square icon in the upper left of the palette you can scroll down and select Show Color Names. That will show you all the colors in the selection.
Hope that helps.. Take me up on my PM and you will see this and much more in action. Simple stuff that makes all the difference.
Thanks Tom, that worked beautifully! I was able to not only identify that my graphic was 5 colors (should have only been 4 and looked like 4), but it also helped me find that 5th color which turned out to be a shade that was only like 2 RGB numbers off of the 4th color.
Color styles will work too... I wish I could make a color sytle from a selection without having to take the graphic into a blank page. And even when I do that sometimes the Color Styles will take all the color data from the previous page. Color Styles generate all the colors in the document so if you have objects on the page other then the graphic you are printing the color sytles will ad those colors also. Which can cause some confusion.
Thats why I create the palette from the selection so I get only the colors in what I am actually going to print. As I typically have other objects floating around my document when I am designing.
But if you are importing or opening only the graphic you are going to print and dont have anything else in the document then Color Styles will be accurate.
