I agree! There are alot of excellent free online tutorials out there. Just search & explore - and practice! Illustrator is a full blown and awesome program... people spend a long time learning it. You may want to hire a graphic artist - it is their job!

One of the big problems you will have is that the adobe products are VAST and DEEP there are about 3 ways to do everything and there really is no right way it's like any other tool. Is there really a right way to use a pencil or a paint brush?

I have taught many people Illustrator and I have my best results when I get the students to focus on small projects first then building on what we have just done. Force yourself to design your own business card, then something else, then something bigger etc.

Find examples of work you want to emulate, research how it was built and then try something like it. A school or a book will teach you what they think you need in the order that they think you need it. You may only need to know 20% of that program for your business or the designs you need to produce.

I agree with the earlier votes.

Learning Illustrator isn't easy but watching someone else do it brings you closer to the gold nugget. Watch the tutorials from Lynda.com (the beginners pacing is about right). Check out the lynda.com sample for free section tutorials to see what I mean.

I've been using Illustrator everyday since 1996 and I'm still learning new stuff. Great luck to you!

The online tutorials are great, to get you started. Most who get the basics will learn 10 times as much through experience. I learned Illustrator long ago (grey hairs to show how long) and I'm just starting to learn Corel. A couple quick online tutorials and I was dangerous and now the real learning begins!
