Hello,
I am a web and graphic designer. I normally go by the alias gio~logist. However, it wouldn't let me register here with that name. Anyways, enough about me, lets get on to business.
Recently, I've come up with the idea to start designing shirts. I am looking to do the following:
Have the inside logos (where it normally says the brand) have my logo instead. Not sure if this has to be embroidered or not.
Screen printing that offers printing for up to 6 colors (including white, i was recently told that white counts as a color even if on a white shirt?)
I already have the website designed and ready, just need to find the right way to have my shirts printed and sold.
Any way to sell on a order and then print basis as far as with the printing companies? (If the better and more affordable companies do not offer, that's ok)
I am looking for something affordable. However, quality is still a must, so i am flexible.
Thank you in advance for any help,
Giovanni Martinez

For that you want to look at getting tags made and relabelling, or printing directly into the neck of the shirt.

White is a colour when it's a colour. If you need to print it, it's a colour. If you don't, it's not. So no, of course it's not a colour on a white shirt. Dark shirts often require a white underbase, so a black shirt may use white even though you can't see any in the final design.

Various fulfillment services. There's generally a quality loss and a convenience advantage going that way. More affordable if you're doing low volume, but less affordable if you're doing good sales.
Thanks for the help there Solmu. Any links to sites that offer what you mentioned? I've looked at hundreds (easily) in the past couple of weeks, and nothing suites my needs.
I noticed with cafe express it's mostly to sell their shirts, is it not? When i try click "Sell Your Own Shirts" (i believe that's what it said) the price stayed 8.99 the whole way, and i doubt it's 8.99 for a 10" 5-6 colored design. But if it is, great.
Do these sites offer the logo inside the shirt and all of that?
Hm, it seems that most of these sites require you to use their site for a shop (i will be making the site myself).
Some things i've noticed you need to look out for at times (obviously, i'm sure you know this):

Seems like most of these major websites want your designs more than your business heh.
Once again, thank you for your help Lewis

Yes, with CafePress, the base price for a white t-shirt with unlimited colors printed in one location would be $8.99. You would markup the shirt above that to determine your profit. They use a technology callled "Direct to Garment" printing that doesn't have the same setup requirements as traditional screen printing. The quality isn't the same as screen printing, but it can work for many designs.

CafePress doesn't, but PrintMojo does. I think RawTalentInc.com does as well.

You can make your own site with just about all of the services. However, unless you are going to be processing your own credit card transactions, then the final checkout process will happen on the fulfillment company's secure servers.
If you do plan to process the transactions yourself and store the shirts in your office, then you don't really need a fulfillment company. Any local screen printer should be able to print up t-shirts for your and ship them to you. Some screen printers also offer "finishing services" like folding/bagging and relabeling.

What makes you say that?
In each of the quotes you posted they explicitly say that they *don't* own your designs and that you retain all rights to your original designs.
They just have to "use" your designs, just as any printer would. So they can print out the design you ask them to when you ask them to.
Just a quick not on the white colour statement. Most printers use the shirt color (white) for the white inthe design. If the design is of a higher end type print I would reccomend printing white, even on a white shirt. Most of the time this would be considered a highlight white and if used properly can make a major diference in the final print.
- this is usually only used on higher end type prints.
