Default Die Cut Shirts!

Has anyone ever seen t's designed with die cut patterns?

Here in Vancouver, there are two women doing this, and doing very well at it. HAs anyone done this before? Or should the idea be filed under: Things I wish I thought of first?

I'm not really sure how it works. I think there are machines that can cut the patterns.

If anyone knows, I'm curious.

Are you sure they're not just flock vinyl? Some of the pics (skull design) look like metallic vinyl. I don't know.

Just applique (fabric).
Cad-cutter will cut applique one layer at a time, but a laser will cut a bunch of layers.
According to Dirty Laundry they hand cut and hand-stitched.

I've seen machines that cut material like that before. They use a die cutter on a stamping machine that can cut several layers and patterns at a time. Very neat idea.

I work in the printing field and "die cutting" is when they use a special cutter that cuts in the shape you need. Boxes are a perfect example of this. Basically it is a metal band that is shaped to the design you need, then stamped like a cookie cutter. It can be expensive, unless you use a previously created shape.

you can also print an outline of the shape you want with burn out onto a big piece of fabric and rip the pieces out.
