Red face Cost/Fees for designs (may be off topic)

Hi,

I currently have some designs for a t-shirt. An acquaintance would like to use my designs on some of his CDs and do a 6 page fold out. I am making some logos,
any idea how much this would cost if he got it outside from designers or companies. Just a sample is what he's asking.

If I do it, i don't know what the decent price to charge him> Any advise would help.

thanks

somethnig like that would mroe than likely be charged by the hour with a hefty price tag. I charge $75 per hour for that type of art service.
without all the specs and from your general info I would quote min of 5 hours worth of work.
Using your art on his cd's could be a good thing as you would get a mention in the credits - this one you might offer a deal or let him use for the cd's without transfering ownership for the art.

Its pretty kewl seeing your art and getting recognized on the cd. I had the pleasure of having my art on the cover of the SHINDOWN's first single.

Hey thanks a lot for the reply. I never really thought about the time it will take to actually to make it. That is so true now that i think about it.

So if i just did a design and charged the person, and not be mentioned.. because most likely i might be designing something new, I don't need to any type of ownership transfer correct? Because he would just be paying for my designs right?

If you keep the ownership of the art there is no need for a transfer. If you sell him the designs outright for what ever he wants to use them for than yes a transfer will be needed and your cost should be considerably higher

Interesting, I thought it would be simple like coming up w/a design for the guy, he pays me and its a done deal.

But you have a point though.

Thanks
