Default Scanning just the design on paper, not the whole piece of paper?

Hey there!

Are there special features on scanners that allow you to take a single image of a paper instead of scanning the entire paper?

Most or all scanners come with software that allows you to only select a certain area to scan.

Thanks so much. I'll have to look at my scanner and see what I can do. Originally I thought I could take the image alone off through my design program, however I've been having difficulty learning it. Scanning might be the way to go?

I usually scan in photoshop, but normaly it will have preview mode or pre-scan, once you get a peak of what the image looks like you can click the curser in the image and you will have a little selection box that you can click and drag around the area you want like this.

and then after you select the area you want to scan, click the button that says scan.

Thanks for the info!

Say I draw a picture on a piece of paper and I want to scan the picture only (not the entire piece of paper) and them use that drawing in CorelDraw. How would I go about that? Is there a diffrent way or should I use the method you just described?

I wanted to trace it in corel if it's possible. I'm looking to put the design on a t-shirt without the white background of the paper I scanned it on. Should I turm it to vector?

Vector would be your best bet, but do you have photoshop to clean it upm before we vectorize it?

I need to do this also.
So after I scan and clean up the scanned image how is it vectorized ? (I am so newbie to PhotoShop you can still smell the wrapper).

What is the best way to save ? PSD, JPG, GIF, etc

Thanks
Mark

Do you have Illustrator? Photoshop can't vectorise files.

PSD is best since it will save layers and is a lossless file format.

save them as a flat .tif file, and yeah you can't vector in photoshop but do you have a vector program? It is not necassary to Vector your fils unless you plan on scaling them to different sizes.
