Default Need help with scanning and transparent backgrouds

Hello! I have CoralDraw 12 and I just scanned a drawing from my scanner to the computer and pasted it on the design page. Problem is the white paper that had the design on it when I initially scanned it is showing up as one huge graphic. All I want to do is take the black image off of the paper and be able to put in on a shirt without the white background from the paper (make the t-shirt color show through the graphic instead of the white from the scan and paper). How should take the image ALONE off of the paper?

Any ideas?
Thank you so much!!

do you have photoshop? if you do, scan it into photoshop first and save it as a high res bitmap tif. then take your image into corel.

you need to scan the image into PhotoPaint. You can remove the background there.
Or
scan the image into CorelTRACE and trace to vector
Or
In DRAW use the Bitmap Color Mask

I have a program called Print Shop Pro Professional Edition and it came with Corel Draw12.

So I should scan the picture and send it to DRAW and then use a Bitmap Color Mask. Is the Bitmap Color Mask easily located? And CorelTrace part of Draw? I noticed that there is a trace option on the program but I can't seem to reach it (it won't let me click it for some reason).

In Photoshop, copy the background layer (because it's "locked") & delete the original layer. Select the black design (use Levels to clean it up beforehand if necessary). Select Inverse, then hit 'delete' to remove all the white. Save in a format that has an alpha channel.

Thanks! I'll try that. Is that feature availble in Paint Shop Pro Photo?

What would be a typical alpha form that I would choose? Also, what is the best way to save and send my designs to a printer for screen printing?

PSD (native), PNG, GIF & TIF all have an alpha channel of some sort or another.

As for what to send to a printer, they each have their own requirements - best bet, check their website or call and ask.
