I use the Live Trace feature in Illustrator. It's not bad, but I do have to do a ton of editing with more complex jobs. For simple line art jobs it works great.

Flash is an adobe program for doing flash designs on web sites but has trace feature also. I have the program but have not used it for designing my transfers.

I use Illustrator to trace some of the simple stuff. Yes, do you need to clean up quite a bit on complex images.

I agree with Fluid, a lot of people are high on Imagaroo Z (not sure if that is the correct spelling). I believe Ryan Screen Supply sells it - Screen printing equipment, screen printing supplies, Direct to garment printers, Embroidery machines and supplies or something similar).

damn, I didn't know there were so many! In the graphic world we only used Adobe Streamline, until recently the vector programs trace utilities have improved so much much you don't need it anymore.
