CorelDraw & Photoshop, are these for professionals
Was wondering if these two programs would be the way to go. Im going to start a tshirt website but dont have the artist hand to draw or do any type of illustrations, I do have some good ideas though. Can i pick up these programs and learn to create the drawings myself or should this be something i let the professionals handle and hire them to create my ideas for me. also whats the difference between the two.

It really depends on how well you can draw and how well you can pick up the learning curve of a graphics program. Everyone is different.

CorelDraw is for vector graphics and Photoshop is for raster graphics.
CorelDraw Graphics Suite comes with a raster graphics program called Photopaint.
The Adobe program that does vector graphics is Illustrator.

I think Corel Draw and Adobe photoshop still offer 30 day free trial offers. So download them and see which one works for you before you buy.
You might be able to do your whole website in 30 days and then see how the website goes. If you need to update your site then you can always buy a copy afterwards.

Fireworks is really good for websites. I like how you can do some good java script in that program. I am not very good at coding, but have found fireworks quite easy to use. I like all the wizards that just get you started. Once you created your item, you can fine tune it a little more to customize it.
The rest I search the web for pre-made code!

Re: CorelDraw & Photoshop, are these for professionals
There really are no shortcuts learning any programs... You just need a desire to learn them(and it can be frustrating but a lot of fun... I have been using Pshop for over 8 years and i finally feel pretty good at it..
(others may say i'm not that good haha)
That being said... This website is a great resource for learning...
and there are plugins for Corel... Advanced Artist Corel DRAW tutorial website is a great resource...
Advanced artist website just released a really cool demo plugin that does separations easily...
Re: CorelDraw & Photoshop, are these for professionals
Yes, professionals use these software. They're top notch graphics applications, but they're definitely never a necessity for any designer -- although they aid a lot, and I reall mean a lot, in how one achieves a certain look to a design.
Oh, and anyone should be able to learn them, if there's passion and lots of patience to practice, practice and practice.
I've not used coreldraw, but I've been using Photoshop, EVERYDAY for the past 6 years in my line of work, and here's what I can vouch for it -- that you can create anything with it. Once you know Photoshop, a digital photo is just 1s and 0s.
Back to your concern. If you don't have the expertise in designs, get help in that area. Hire designers/buy designs, and keep your focus on selling/producing tee shirts. It'll streamline your business a lot.
Re: CorelDraw & Photoshop, are these for professionals
Both apps are great and both are extensively used by professionals. However, both apps have pretty steep learning curves. Also, a combo of Photoshop and Illustrator is fairly expensive. You can certainly learn how to use them, the question is – what would be the most efficient way of directing your efforts. Simply to put - if you are not an artist, you will have much harder time mastering this stuff than if you were one. I support Mar’s advice. If you, as you’ve mentioned, “…don’t have the artist hand to draw or do any type of illustrations”, you should consider hiring artists, and focus on the business side of things and generating ideas.
