Would a PS generated artwork converted to vector suffice for print?
Hi
I've been playing with PS for a couple months now and created some nice graphics/artwork that we'd like printed on T-shirts. I've placed them on shirt templates to see placement. One particular design is 2 colors and created with 300dpi. If we had it converted to vector would that be preferable for a screenprinter? Pros? Cons?
Sorry I'm new to having our work printed on shirts. Unfortunately I do not know Illustrator.

If your PS file is the correct size, you may be able to just use that. talk to your printer. Otherwise, a vector may work too, again depending on your printer's requirements.
Re: Would a PS generated artwork converted to vector suffice for print?
I finish all my work in Photoshop, I normally don't use vectors to print from. If you have your art printed by someone else, and if they can't deal with a 300 dpi PSD at full printing size, I would find another printer.

Hi,
any format will do as long as your printer can do it. Usually, printers can print your image even with just .jpg but if you have a more complicated design in terms of color and image (pictures), they have to do color separation, hence, your colors should be correct. 300 dpi is already ideal.
Re: Would a PS generated artwork converted to vector suffice for print?
Like everyone said, since you're using a high resolution (300DPI), if you're document is at the proper size, you could simply send that file to your printer and get the same quality if you were to send them a vector. The only problem there would be file size (upload/download time).
Re: Would a PS generated artwork converted to vector suffice for print?
The usual problem for a screenprinter is being given a CMYK/RGB to be printed as two spot colours. If your PSD has spot channels that's fine but if you have CMYK/RGB it will need redrawing/converting and I see no reason why the screenprinter shouldn't charge for his time.
