i want to do a pretty big image on a shirt, ( black shirt )
but i really have a very tight budget and i was wondering if i get 8.5 x 11 paper is it possible to maybe piece it together with it not looking like a batched job..

It most likely won't look good because you'll have a line running through it. If you have a printer large enough, you can get 11x17 paper to print on.

Hi Billy, welcome to the T-shirt forum.
Something else you should be aware of is any large dark transfer will be very stiff. Usually most people cut out background areas to allow the graphics some flex. This can be difficult to do without using a cutter/plotter. I think the last thing anyone would want is to feel like they are wearing a piece of plywood on their shirt.
Look around the forum, maybe follow some printer threads to get some ideas. If it's a simple 1 or 2 color design, you may want to think about having someone do a vinyl transfer for you.
