Default Making big numbers out of names in Corel X4

Hi there,

I'm looking to make up a large 10 out of around 200 surnames, which all need to feature. Of course I could do this manually but it would take an age.

Is there any way I could do this easily?

I am using Corel x4.

Many thanks

Mark

Hi,
  • Using the text tool, make a "10".
  • Using the select tool (arrow) right click on it and select "CONVERT TO CURVES"
  • Size the "10" as big as you want it.
  • Under TEXT, there should be a text fill tool. Use that, or just using the Text tool, click on the inside of the 10 and it should do the same thing.
  • Paste in your list of names. Adjust the font size until it fills in the 10.
  • Convert those to curves and now you can erase the 10 out line if you want.
Hope that helped,
Nick

Hello Nick,

THank you for your reply but It didnt work. I created a large"10", converted it to curves. THen clicked on my list of text names and selected Text from the menue bar but there isnt a "fill" option. I am sure Im missing something very basic. Can you please have another look at it as Im pulling out what little hair I have left...

Many thanks

Mark

It sounds like a power clip would be the best way but you may lose some names. Have you tried that?

Hi Mark,
I take a look at it when I get home tonight if no one answers sooner. I was going off memory. I've done this many times for "Senior Class of..." shirts. I might just be missing the name of the tool.

It's the 'fit text to frame' under the text menu. Just paste your text in and fit it to the frame.

Is you concept goes like this..... Out of the 200 surnames your going to ZOOM IN or FOCUS 10 of them??? We if you put your text (surnames) in just one text placeholder that very easy to do... You just need to increase the font size of those 10 names... But if u did type those text individually that will take to a long process.... I suggest you cut and paste those surnames and place it in one text placeholder.

I was following this thread...

I converted the "10" to Curves, but my "Fit text to Frame" is gray scaled. How to I get it highlighted so it can be chosen?

Thanks,

Steven
