Say you have a tree bark texture, or cracked earth. Knock the highlights back a couple times,. the midtones a couple times,. increase the shadows,. or whatever works for you. Once you are comfy with the image,. go to image>mode>bitmap. I usually use 50% threshold,. 600dpi for smoother bitmap lines. If you have midtones you want to keep don't use this,. Use halftone screen,. I use 55-50lpi @ 22.5 degress. Save the image as a .tif and you can place the bitmap over the top of any image in illustrator and it will allow you to assign any color to the bitmap. |
