Re: whats difference between coreldraw x4 and corelpaint x4 ...if any??
Corel draw is mainly a vector based artwork and design app. Corel paint is mainly a raster based artwork and design app. Similar to Illustrator and Photoshop.
Re: whats difference between coreldraw x4 and corelpaint x4 ...if any??
I haven't used Corel products since Corel6 but i believe CorelPaint is a bitmap based program (ideal for photo graphic manipulation) and CorelDraw is a vector based program (ideal for technical drawing).
I'm using Adobe products and they offer the same sort of programs (Photoshop and Illustrator) and i use both. They're different tools, much like a paint brush and a pen.

thanks for the replies......just one thing vector images are basically ones you create your self...by using teh drawing tool...like lines..and objects made from lines and curves....right...?
i just dont know who you people do it...i just get my head round it..i got designs...but i dunno how to get them designs..by using lines?...
Re: whats difference between coreldraw x4 and corelpaint x4 ...if any??
maybe this is easier...Corel and Illustrator are vector based program which means any thing created in those programs are vector images...those are ones that no matter how small or large you go...they are always clear resolution..
CorelPaint (actually a sub program of Corel Draw). and Photoshop (a separate program that is part of Adobe Suite) are photo imaging/editing/correcting programs and all work produced with those are raster or bitmap images...like jpg, tif, etc..and when you enlarge those images you get pixelization ...the jagged edges and when you reduce them to small and smaller..soon you just have a blob as the pixels are are squished together.
So for most of us we prefer vector images but some using transfer papers can use photos from raster images.
BTW there are two free programs that do the same..one is inkscape...a vector program..and Gimp...a photoshopwanna be.
There is a lot more about images..but do the tutorial referred to and also look up vector in the search box and you will find a lot of information

naeem: let me first start by saying it can be very frustrating when trying to learn a new program, especially one's like coreldraw and illustrator etc. but everyone has to start somewhere. may i suggest reading as much as you can from your manual and doing the very basic tutorials first before trying to "scale mount everest your first climb". you need to learn the basic tools and their functions and the steps needed to 'build' a design or paint your picture. computer 'drawing' or 'painting' is gone about differently than the traditional method of picking up a pen or paintbrush. things are done in layers upon layers to give it a realistic look but you go about it in a building blocks sort of fashion. and until you sit down and learn the basics none of it will make sense. but it will come if you set your mind to it. hey maybe look into a class at an art school or community college nearby. most teach illustrator but that can easily be translated into the corel realm of programs.
now saying all this there is a way to go about what you want to do with the joker picture. you would save the artwork from photo paint ( i guess guys....i use photoshop so bear with me) after having imported it and manipulated it in whatever way you want (change color mode/contrast/brightness etc.) and then bring it into corel draw where you can use the trace function. this will turn your bitmap image into a vector image where you'll be able to select parts of the image to change in whatever way you want. but you still need to learn how to do it manually to really call yourself proficient in the software. -good luck.
