Basically i got a 7x11 image. I've notice a lot of hip shirts have extra stuff around the main image, such as arrows, random dots, clouds, neat intelligent squiggly (if that made any sense) and other stuff that helps the image prevent plane vibes. Can I get some ideas?

the_um,

those are vector images usually patterns or symbols from the applications youre using. with patterns you can use your own images to go with it as background with your main image.

designs are like these nowadays, a little dirty look would do some designs look great: cracks, sprays, distress, halftone dots...

so explore and use some free vectors out there or better yet create your own

mar is correct. there are tuts out there that will show you how to create your own custom brushes and patterns. most are used to fill-up the shirt with design and color (if you like that type of work).

you can also find royalty free, free stuff like that at sites like this:

I use illustrator for most of our designs and one of our main things we use is a splatt, with a roughened effect as a background layer for most of our tees! You can simply just use a brush and experiment with the mouse, change the brush size/colour etc! Or you can just get a vector and mess around with the effects!
