I dont have links but bet youtube may have some. You will still need to learn the tools and effects in your draw program to be able to do what you really want, so most tuts can be boring..but if ya can do it..the more power to you.
I totally agree with gerry. If you want to master something useful, you have to spend some time and
effort on it. Learning is a actually a boring process, but youtube's video might be less boring. You can
not skip some steps to master illustator.Lol....good luck!
lots of us have been using illustrator for years and years and still haven't mastered it. but as stated above there's no real shortcut. there are plenty of plugins that do meanial steps for you, but it's always good to know how to do things step-by-step yourself. sure it can be long and boring.......like learning anything else. do you know how many times i've done something in illustrator the wrong way, just to find out days/weeks/months/years later that i could have done it differently and in an easier way? my suggestion to you is buy a couple of good books (illustrator 'classroom in a book' is really good) and come up with some projects for yourself and sit down and figure out how to accomplish it on the computer. doing things in illustrator is different conceptually speaking than sitting down and picking up a pencil or pen. knowing how to draw and learning the basics of designs doesn't hurt either.
Ditto everything already said, but I'd like to add an analogy. Imagine you are training a retreiver (dog) to...retreive. You don't skip over sit, come, and stay, and go right into retreiving. This would give you headaches. Sure you may be able to do what you want, but you will save time in the end starting from the start. It was difficult for me to be patient in the beginning because it seemed overwhelming, but I can see how it benefitted me to learn the basics first. Heck, I've been working with corel for about 4-5 years and still feel like I'm learning the basics.
Personally, I think there are two aspects here. The first is to learn the tools and features of Illustrator. The second is to learn the fundamentals of logo and graffiti design.
The reason it is important to separate these two aspects is that they are really very different. Just because someone is an artist, doesn't make them proficient in Illustrator. And just because someone is proficient in Illustrator, doesn't make them an artist.
So it's probably best to do both... learn Illustrator through books and tutorials, as suggested by the other posters. But you should probably also learn some elements and techniques of logo and graffiti design. There are probably books and tutorials on this as well.
