Default Teefury.com or clothing line?

What would you guys prefer to start, a clothing company like Johnny Cupcakes, where you create the designs yourself, print them in advance and add new designs every week or so..

Or, something like Teefury.com, where you accept designs from artists, and print them after they've been ordered?

Which do you guys think would be easier?

Thats a tough question, I think you would get so much more gratification out of owning your own line, and you get a lot more creative say in what your putting out, But if you laking a clear idea or vision of what you want your brand to be, im sure it can be difficult to make something that is different or stands out.

If you can make a site like teefury.com and do something different, a different approach perhaps, that could also be very cool, maybe not as rewarding as building a successful brand, but if you love tees and can find a way to make a living involving yourself with them, than thats pretty much a win too!

Theyre two completely different sides of the coin. Start your own line man. Theres nothing better. Neither one is easier. They both have their own challenges.

teefury won't make you more then 2-3$/shirt(its not selling that much either..teefury is flop like many others). clothing line can make you any amount depending on your Marketing plan/Budget/Niche/Target Market.

-check traffic, most of them is going to be "artists" which don't buy many/any? shirts whole yr.
Site Comparison of teefury.com (rank #48,619), teextile.com (#191,064), uneetee.com (#103,978) | Compete

your site comparison chart doesn't exactly show that teefury.com is a complete flop. and while i'm not interesting in sparking an argument here, i have to ask.. how do you know they aren't selling that many t-shirts?

You could do a combo where you have your own clothing line and spotlight artist's work. Think RVCA.

Seems like it would be easier to sell your own designs.

No complicated commission payments, licensing, etc stuff to deal with. Less convincing of other artists that you're not going to make them work for nothing (an unproven site with no sales makes it hard to attract designers with the promise possible *future* commissions).

I agree with Rodney. i knew your opinion before i posted 1st time. just look at Emptees. there are bunch of designs waiting for home. Artists are cheap, if you have ability to sell t-shirts and you have theme, why not to buy directly & print them? commission is going to be lil complicated + will take your load of time just to grab/attract artists. when you give that much time to find/get good artists to your site, why not to use that time in searching for customers?

@SystemVoid, sorry. i forgot the place but heard artists talking about teefury won't make more then 100 so they aren't selling more then 100(max?).

everyone knows that teextile is selling better designs then teefury (probably b/c of better commission).
Emptees - Talk - best selling artists at teextile
top selling design is made $468 to artists in a week? that is horrible for biz. maximum is that much, what minimum can be? none(0)...

I would be careful about posting the opinions of others as "facts" with phrases like "everyone knows" or "teefury is flop".

When you make statements like that you make it sound like it's a hard proven fact and not a personal opinion (or just the opinion of others).

Selling just 100 of a particular t-shirt design doesn't make it a flop, it's just a specific business model choice.

sorry. actually, i am getting lil hyped sometimes on forums. giving my opinions as fact. i know its hard to sell 100 shirts even so i wouldn't be using "just" but comparing to the traffic, its minimal someone can get. no doubt, they are one of the famous competition sites & good business model, its just lil hard to get into the game without better ideas/theme/model.

seems like teefury isn't doing that bad...up a 120% for the year. More than twice the traffic of Designbyhumans.com

what makes them a flop?

I think it's the little stack of pancakes at the bottom of the image of shirts when it's a good seller

so you think TeeFury.com is flop because the little stack of pancakes at the bottom of the image of shirts pops up when it's a good seller?

Hahaha, no. I was just making a joke about flipping (flop) pancakes. I actually like TeeFury, I have ordered from them before. I'm also trying to market some of my own designs through them in order to grow my business as well. Let's face it, even though we are all in direct competition with each other, our designs will always be different, so why not network to make us all successful.
