Re: how to sell to stores 1. How do I go about finding retail stores online and offline to sell to? Do a search on Google, or drive around and find some. Search on MySpace, it's loaded with small boutiques that may be willing to buy from you.
2. Is there a list of retail stores that caters to small businesses like mine? Small boutiques are your best bet. Again, do a search on Google.
3. Do my shirts need to have a company tag on it? Or can I just have my company logo, etc? Do I need a UPC,etc to sell? I wouldn't think so. Depends on the retail store you're selling to, though. Some may only sell specialty apparel, which would mean that generic tees without a company name wouldn't quality.
For UPCs, it varies by store. Some have ridiculously long lists of tagging requirements, packaging, shipping requirements, etc. Others may not really care.
4. Should I get a distrubor or go directly to a retailer or wholesaler. Go in person. Offer them some free tees as samples. Give them business cards, postcards, magnets, stickers, etc. Make your product line presentable. If you're not comfortable doing this yourself, hire a sales rep. Preferably, a young, attractive female with good communication skills.
You could also they sending them a package via UPS, with tees, a catalog, etc. Spurge and send it Next Day Delivery.
5. What are the chances that they will buy my products(Shirts, silicone wristbands, mugs, hats) if i am not an established company? Depends on what you're selling. What do you mean by "not established"?
6. Do I first need to have a online store to show that I am legit or can I just send picutures of my products to them with a description? A print catalog would help, if you don't have an online presence. Make sure it's professionally done. Try jakprints.com for catalog printing.
Although, if you do the catalog approach, create a website anyway, even if it's just one page. It should include at least your contact info, how to order a print catalog, etc. |
