Default How much profit do sites make per shirt?

I was curious If anyone knew how much profit sites like SnorgTees and BustedTees make per shirt? I know they mostly print on American Apparel shirts which Is a little pricey plus you factor In the actual printing. I have noticed lately they both have been running ALOT of sales. I have seen prices as low as $8.95 a shirt for BustedTees which Is really rare. Thanks!

It's impossible to know without knowing production volume, inhouse vs. contract printing, overhead, etc.

Suffice to say selling AA's for $9 will not make you rich, unless of course you are shirt.woot and pumping out 1,000's a day.

How much profit another business is making is totally irrelevant unless you have shares in that company.

You can dramatically reduce your overheads to increase profit margins by a variety of different means, but unless you have high levels of sales, most of those won't apply.

To learn what you're trying to know you need to just look stuff up and see different prices available for different quantities so you can rationalize how much YOU can make doing it. Every business is different and has their own nitch, contracts etc. so you can never really know what someone else is doing unless they for some reason sit down and explain it all to you in full detail, so we're the wrong ones to ask. I know people who buy bulk loads of shirts, like 10,000 at a time and get them for like .60 cents a peice, but if you were to buy a bulk of only a couple hundred they might be like $4 a piece. A lot of basic designs come out to only .50 cents worth of ink, so it's safe to say $1.20 overhead per shirt, at least with that setup.

WOW! 10,000 shirts of 1 design? That's a bit risky I would think?

He didn't say it was all 1 design.

The point we both were making is someone's shirt cost will be lower if they order their blanks 10,000 pieces at a time versus someone ordering 100 pieces at a time.

And the only way you would know how Busted or Snorg ran their business is if you were their accountant.
