Do you choose a t-shirt (like at a store, not to print on) by it's color, feel, style/cut or maybe just the design itself?
I'm having a hard time deciding on which way to go as I don't have alot of money to start with to offer many options.
I like the distressed colors that Life is Good and similar companies use, but those colors are only available in men's styles. The ladies shirts I like that are slightly fitted (Anvil or Gildan) don't offer such colors.
I really don't want to use American Apparel and the like because of the cost.
So, what do YOU look for when buying a t-shirt at the store - style/cut - color - design -feel - or????
I think feel and cut are it for me. I like t-shirts that are soft, so tend to go more for straight cotton than blends. I also like t-shirts that fit right. Don't want them too short, don't want them too tight.
Ditto for me, style, fit and feel, then color They have to fit good first and have a great style to them, then the fabric has to be soft. Color would be the last thing I look at. I find the shirt first by style cut and feel, and then pick from the available colors of that shirt.

I'm nearly 6ft tall... definitely fit first: length, cut, neckline, sleeves. If it doesn't get past the fit, it could come in the most delicious colors and I won't pick it up. Basic colors will always work for me if it's a fabulous cut.
I am always caught by color of design first. I seldom if ever buy a plain colored shirt of any kind. It must have some kind of design, and a design that is full of color (that's how I design), so I can match it to my solid color bottoms. Feel is next, must be soft, including designs (don't like crack and peel feel on my shirts). And just recently I have decided some fit is more pleasing than XL and baggy. That's just me tho. T-shirts are the greatest thing to wear. Good luck with your venture. Raye
We were also thinking the same thing but figured that the most important things were, well, all of them..the main thing for us is that the fabric and feel are spot on and the shape and design of the tee just the way we want it..not easy to do on a budget though..good luck to you though..
The color catches my eye first. Then i check out the feel because i hate scratchy materials against my skin then, i look at the cut and fit. All of these must be in place for me to buy it.
If i do not like the color of the shirt I won't even look at it any further.
