Default Rookie in the Heat Press World

I have big plans but a goal to start small. I live in a town that revolves around sports. It is my goal to be able to have a heat press that is mobile and to offer tshirts & sweatshirts that can be customized. You'd be able to put your school name, mascot, number, quotes, a basketball or football, etc...on your shirts. While games are happening in our gym, shirts can be pressed. I picture a win-win!

The assistance I need to know is:

1. Is a heat press a heat press or is there a certain brand I should stick with?

2. Would you agree that it'd be best to order my heat transfer designs from a third party vendor and order in bulk?

3. Are there different grades/quality of heat transfers.

3. Once I have a press and the heat transfers, I then will search for a place to order my tees and sweatshirts.

Any advice would be great. I'm eager to get started but would like to get input before diving in head first!!!

You have more research to do. Will the schools or sponsors of the events allow this? Will you have to give the sponsors a cut? A good heat press is going to be pretty heavy. You would also have to carry a sturdy table. Will you be allowed access to electricity? For quality you will need screened transfers. Who is going to design the shirts? Will you try to have a separate design for each event? Most of the major suppliers of screened transfers (Pro World, Ace Transfer, etc.) will provide good quality along with application instructions. Another option might be a dye sublimation printer to print the transfers as needed. This is a relatively slow process, you could only do about 20 shirts an hour. I have worked a few events with transfers I had screened myself with fairly good success. Hope this helps, or at least doesn't confuse too much.
