Default Should I add copyright info to stickers

Hello

I'm planning on starting a bumper sticker business, not only to make some money , but also fund my t-shirt brand that will have allot of the same designs my bumper stickers will have .

Question. I was thinking on adding my copyright info on the bottom of all my designs I put on stickers "(c) name"; My copyright info would be small like (6pt). Because it was so small should I even bother putting the copyright info on the sticker? Or do people care about the design instead of who own the copyright for the design. I was planning on adding to my website like " designs (c) name" to show designs are copyrighted, instead of adding it to all my sticker designs.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

If you have room on the sticker, I say you should add it just because sometimes people don't understad that something is copyrighted if it doesn't have the symbol. But, per the copyright office, you don't have to have the symbol for it to be protected:

What is a copyright notice? How do I put a copyright notice on my work?
A copyright notice is an identifier placed on copies of the work to inform the world of copyright ownership that generally consists of the symbol or word “copyright (or copr.),” the name of the copyright owner, and the year of first publication, e.g., ©2008 John Doe. While use of a copyright notice was once required as a condition of copyright protection, it is now optional. Use of the notice is the responsibility of the copyright owner and does not require advance permission from, or registration with, the Copyright Office. See Circular 3, Copyright Notice, for requirements for works published before March 1, 1989, and for more information on the form and position of the copyright notice.

I thought I'd share just because I have differing opinions to the others who have posted.

I do not think you should put the copyright info- if anything, just put the URL of your website or something so people can track you.

I consult with tons of small businesses, and they are all worried about protecting their logos, designs, etc. If your design is good enough that people want to copy it- then its good enough that they know who owns it.

I think putting the copyright info on it detracts from the design component- unless you integrate it, which I've seen before and I think is fairly cool. It also makes you seem too "corporate" and right now in most western countries, "corporate" is not in- indie is in, and indie doesnt have a copyright logo. You always need to think about what your customers are looking for, and their thought process.

if your in india, or China- that would be different, but then you probably wouldnt be asking the question.

Theres my .02.

I was thinking about adding a small copyright with my business name by the design, but after reading your post, it got me thinking again about adding the copyright info. You are right if my design is all that people would know who created it, also I would have my copyright info on my website as well " Sticker designs (c) business name" and I planning on sending a mini sticker or biz card with my biz logo for every sticker order as well, Got me thinking

That makes sense to me- I'd certainly include the info on your website, and include a business card with a sticker or something with the order. That should make them think of you next time they want to order!
