T-shirt hell and Threadless/DBH are different business models. T-shirt hell has designs supplied by the site owner, whereas the other two have user submitted designs. With the user submitted sites, you get an idea of what design is popular which should result in better sales, but there must be significant enough prize money to entice artists to submit artwork. A conventional website requires the website owner to brand itself. You need to decide on your target market. Then you must find artist to design for that target market. With both models, you must find a screen printer capable of printing the designs. You must also offer something better than, or different from your competitors so that you will stand out.
For a full flash website (which apparently isnt very easy to do), approx. 15 pages w/ custom shopping cart, I was quoted $3500. All graphics and artwork being created by me.
If you wont be creating you own artowrk you could hire a graphics designer.
Then perhaps you could get a website made then, then pay for updating and maintenance for the next 30 years in advance? lol

Ive been doing screen printing, signs and banners in my home town for sometime now and really want to tap into the internet game, but I find it hard just because Ive been used to working for the customer for so long. So with the amount of captial I have I would like to make a great site with some great designs and I really need some direction. So any input is great for me good or bad
you can get a bizarre website for that money that would surpass any of the mentioned sites, which where built by creators wo any investment other then their time. stay away from flash, stick with functionality. pick 10 of your favorite sites and narrow down by things you dont like about them till you get to 3. then take those 3 and make a list of your favorite features they got. list those features and submit to you web designer for a quote... and that shouldnt be more then 12K.

I would start from the website design and hire a team of crative website designer and high-level website
technical developers.A great and attractive design a more important for a new website,it almost determines the popularity of the website.Once the design is finished, the website should convert from psd file into htm file,so a high-level website technical developer is vital for the website in the internet.Besides,

Do you have a business plan, and a marketing plan in your business plan? For a small business 20K is an awful lot to spend on a website. I can see a 20K marketing budget for a small business when you have a well planed marketing plan you will execute across multiple promotional and advertising vehicles.

Sorry I should have been more clear. Its not just for the site be for the whole business start up. I would like to create a team and really come up with a great site and product line of shirts. I would really like a hybrid of tshirt hell and design by humans
