What price for heat transfer letters? This morning I cut a small short run heat transfer job as a subcontract to another company. This other guy does mainly embroidery but took in some t-shirt work because his customer asked for it. It needed some special colors and had to be done stat. The job was to produce six two-letter pieces (three white three hot pink), weed and deliver. The letters were 6" tall block letters - pretty straight forward. I cut the letters and delivered and he transferred them to his own tees.
He asked me for an invoice and I have no idea what to charge him. I scrounged up the heat transfer vinyl from other screen printers in the area because I didn't have any. I spent about $20 in materials because I bought small quantities and needed it rush. I'm sure I could have done better if I had time to order in materials but my guy was in a spot and needed them turned around in 24 hrs. I want to do more work with this company so I obliged.
Any ideas? What's a fair price for this? My gut tells me around $4 a letter but I don't want to price myself out of future work. Am I selling myself short? My almost-retired father thinks I should be charging around $9/letter but I'm happy to make a fair profit and keep the business coming in. |
