Do girls buy/wear regular t-shirts anymore? I am in college and it seems the hip thing for every girl to wear is an American Apparel v-neck. Almost every girl I know has this in like 10 different colors.
Having said that, do girls wear regular unisex t-shirts?
Im going to be using AA 2001 shirt for guys and didnt know if girl would purchase that as well?
I think you need to look to your market. If you will be selling to the girls that are walking around your campus in AA v-necks then I think the choice is easy.
But yes the ladies also wear the unisex crew neck shirts.
"Unisex" is a marketing ploy by clothing companies who want their customers to feel like they can buy one product and cater to everyone. There are men's shirts, and women's shirts. I know some women who like to wear men's shirts, and some men who like to wear women's shirts - but they're cut to fit different body shapes.
My female clients have told me, they want shirts designed for them specifically. We are doing Dye Sub, so cannot use the AA 2001 shirts. We did find another vendor though, Vapor, that makes a number of different women's styles.
All you need to do is go to a mall, the clothing floor space for the woman's clothing is usually twice the size as the men's floor space. That answered my same question.
Yes, use the ladies sizes if you want the female biz. Categorize them on separate web pages, funny, biker ect. That seemed to work the best for us. I have teenagers around here to help with designs and trendy colors & styles.
I've gotten some shirts in girls sizes and they sell terrible. Do your research and don't get burned. We are not your customers so we aren't in any position to tell you what you should print on.
What works for some of us doesnt work for all of us,
test your market, ask ask ask,,, and then get a few of each and see what sells,, thats what we do, with everything, and when you think you have it figured out,, it will change ,, and you need to change with it,,,,
You are on the right track,, talk to your potential, buyers,,,
and then when you have the right tee,, now what colors will you print on,,?

sjidohair is right, we sell a ton of black spaghetti strap tanks in the warmer months & baby doll T's seem to work later in the year. The 4th of July we do a lot of patriotic themes, Indie designs & one liners work well for us at our retail store as well. Can't go wrong w/ rhinestones, see previous post. We are now getting Hoodies going w/ the distressed look, customer can send their own design in and we do the conversion to distressed.

xguy9 seems to face the problem we all face from time to time. The BUDGET DILEMMA, we started w/ the ladies stuff just making some volleyball Ts and kept doing sports stuff until we made enough money to stock some tank tops, we actually sold most of them unprinted from our retail store. Again the profit was used to sell some pre printed ones and went from their. Kept investing in ourselves.
