Default How to price my t-shirts out for someone who wants wholesale pricing?

Hi,

I have a record label (from Japan) interested in purchasing t's from my brand at wholesale prices. I normally sell my t's at $15 per shirt and it costs me 6.50 per shirt to make, how would you recommend I go about pricing the shirts? The customer would like a total of 18.

Thanks

We have a pricing schedule which discounts are given to the amount of shirts ordered. Discounts are applied after the first dozen, next discount is applied after 48, last discount applied after 150. This is something to look at. 18 shirts is not really a large order. Are you screening or DTG?

Normal rule of thumb (not set in stone) is 100% markup: your cost price of $6.50 becomes $13 wholesale becomes $26 retail. With a $15 retail that doesn't leave a lot of room. Still, I'd consider the possibility of sticking with a wholesale price barely below retail ($12 say) and relying on the fact that they can probably sell them for a lot more in Japan.

If you start getting more interest from retailers, seriously consider raising your retail price so you can provide them with actual wholesale prices, and not be undercutting what they'd have to sell for at retail.

If they only want 18 sell at your normal price. If they like the shirt(s) and want to order in larger quantities then factor in discounts.

Assuming you are in the states and not Japan make sure you are not getting scammed. Get the money up front ( at least enough to cover your costs) before shipping anything.

I would tell them you will knock a couple dollars off until they start buying larger numbers and I agree...get the money up front...especially these days.
