In my opinion it really depends on your market, more expesnive tees like Johnny cupcakes and stuff the packaging really adds to the brand, a funny slogan tee on the other hand does not bother me so much if its just stuffed in a mail bag
thats a good point you make chimp...i would say that im definitely in the johnny cupcakes genre as opposed to just making random funny tees. so maybe it would help my brand out and add to it?
Have you contacted any custom tube making companies? I did a google search and got 14 million results. custom mailing tube - Google Search You might want to start there to get an idea of pricing. Also, custom printed polybags might be another alternative. Seal your merchandise in polybags, then put it in the shipping envelope. Regular polybags are roughly $.10 or less each for an order of 1000, and you can buy a sealer for $75 or so and seal them yourself. The printing shouldn't add too much to the price.
Personally, I wouldn't spend any money on packaging only b/c its waste. Customers will most likely throw away packaging anyways. Unless, they can re-use for other purposes.
So, don't even spend energy figuring out where to spend 1k on trash

I completely disagree. If I were starting a clothing line, I would not only have custom packaging, but also, custom relabeling, as well as hangtags. IMO if you are going to do something, you should do it right. It adds value to your product. I am a screen printer, and I even send my shirts out in custom boxes. It costs me about an extra $1.50 a box, but well worth it.
