I have decided recently that I want to print images and customize t-shirts. I know absolutely nothing about doing this. I need some help on very basic software with designs on it and maybe some software to add some kind of personlization like a name, etc., just very, very simple to print out heat transfers to iron on t-shirts with alot of designs. I know NOTHING about personlizing t-shirts other than what I just mentioned. I would like to start out very simple and work my up to the professional field of this. I need to know where to start, what I need and how to go about it. Thanks alot for your posts.

so you want people to come to you having the ideas of shirts to print and you produce them? IE. like a softball team needing jerseys comes to you.

do you want to start making your own designs, print then sell them?

unfortunately the software for designing is generally not very simple or cheap. there are however exceptions. do a search on the forum for "corel vs adobe" and you can read up on some of peoples opinions and get an idea of what you're getting into. you can download trials of all those programs. There are tons of tutorials for both corel and adobe programs on the internet. google 'photoshop tutorials' or 'illustrator tutorials'

some people suggest free graphic programs like inkscape or gimp.. you can download those and try them out and see how they feel. I havent used them so i cant say to much about them.

You can download and buy premade artwork.. google search "CLIP ART" and "vector packs".

What you'll need is some high quality papers an inkjet printer and a heat press. you can use an iron but the cost of a heatpress is worth it.
