Nice to see you are into quality! Can you provide more specifics as to what type of packaging you are looking for? Is it for shipping purposes or for actual product packaging?

Personally, I would avoid elaborate product wrapping because it can get annoying to customers ordering multiple shirts and can increase the weight and cost of shipping for your customer (also, retailers have their own way of managing and displaying the product they purchase). A nice hang tag is suffice.

With regards to unique/creative boxes for shipping... that would be a great investment. There is nothing more boring that a jiffy envelope or a bland box with shipping sticker. There are many places that sell uniquely colored/constructed boxes. Make a rad sticker that reflects your brand and do something "homemade" that distinguishes the box to make it stand out as it comes off the UPS truck. Don't make it too annoying that shipping companies want to avoid your company... Gateway computers used boxes with cow spots back in the day and Zappos.com uses boldly branded boxes. Find something that works for you and create options for different size orders, but most importantly make the receiving of your goods something your customers will remember and talk about for days...

You know I have been searching for a supplier who can create the custom tubing as seen with a lot of Johnny Cupcake products. You make a huge point regarding how it can effect shipping prices, weight and so on. For us small beginners anyway. And true, I may spend a lot of time and money on creative packaging only to end up with the retailer telling me, "hey, I'm going to display the tees my way in the store, can you take the tees out of the tubes?"

Good info. Taught me a lesson. lol Do you think shrink wrapping is a good way to go?

Derisory Designs does a great job printing on boxes and envelopes. It may big more of an investment than you are ready for, especially if this is first time around. However if you are willing to spend the money, they are very experienced and know what they are doing with this type of thing.

check out Nashville Wraps....lots of very nice , off the shelf, packaging options. Stickers costs very little too.
Also consider a company gift tag with washing instructions on one side and your logo, tag line on the other

presentation can raise the value/price 40%

Seth Godin sold his book Purple Cow in a milk carton with purple spots ....totally stood out from all the other covers and spines

You screen printed on clear bags yourself? I'd love to see the results as well. Please post pics!

I printed out some paper bands at kinkos. My packaging consists of putting the tshirt in a paper bag and putting one of those bands around it. Simple idea but its gives the brand an exclusive look.

The bands also have a life protip on them.

I setup a review of some custom box printing here:

Screen Printing shipping boxes -pictures and info

This is the Nazdar ink you need for plastic items - I am trying it with the water-based hopefully soon to see if the 'feel' is different. Be sure you have something to rinse out the non-water based or it will dry in your screen.
