what is more important
Hello,
I need your imput on something, considering the times we are all going through around the world and here in the Usa I would like some advise. Do you think that a personal message that describes someone and their outlook of the times or something that is just humorous and that can apply to the a large demographic group is more important. I am going to start out with six shirts with sayings on the back and I am trying to decide. Maybe I should do a little of each I just don't know. Rodney if you are out there I would like to talk to you. I really would like everyones imput if possible! Mermaid

IMO, there is no one that does not know that we are in a rough time. But who wants to be reminded of this all day everyday. I say, use humor, if you can make someone laugh or smile in these rough times by them looking at your shirts then your chances of selling just went up.
Doom and Gloom only sells if that is what you are selling. Humor sells humor.

I couldn't agree more. I can't even begin to describe how bored I am by this recession, and I don't think I'm alone in that. So much of the whining and anxiety is coming from people who aren't even affected that it's all just white noise to me at this point.
I'm not saying it's not also causing real problems for real people; but because so much of it is just baseless fear (or people who are only just realising they're screwed because they spent years in denial causing their own problems... no sympathy there) I tend to tune out.
Ditto and ditto. I have worked in the buying and design depts for major clothing retail chains for 20+ years, and humor tees always outsell all other graphics (by a big margin) regardless of the country's current situation. One way to go that has always worked is to make humor about the current bad situation, this way you do stay current but keep it funny. If you get the perfect "one liner", it becomes a best seller!
I am just starting my own t-shirt/clothing line and I am really excited to see how people respond to our wearable art. Quick Fact Art Changes all the time. Art changes the way we see the world. Wearing art changes the way the world sees us. Hopefully art can change the world for the better. We could use that. What do you think ?????
