Default Gildan or Jerzees??

I'm still fairly new and am not sure what I should stick to for a core line to use. I currently use Jerzees 29M and their 497 Hoodie. I see a lot of others using Gildan Ultra cotton. Any ideas?

The 29M's are a 5.6oz shirt while the Gildan Ultra Cotton's are heavier. So they are different shirts.

Order a Gildan sample and compare to decide which is best for your line.

Is there a style that tends to work better for production or hold up better than another. We are new to embroidery and screen printing.

Give the Gildan 2000 6.1oz a look for preshrunk 100% cotton if you want a higher quality feel.

Two other suggestions are the PC61, Port and Company from San Mar and the Anvil 978. Both are 6.1oz,100% cotton. I have great results with these. One HUGE frustration I have with Gildan is oil spots on their dark colored shirts. The problem is you may print one side, then when you go to print the other side you find a big grease/oil stain on the shirt. Gildan won't take them back once they've been printed on, so your stuck with it. I have never had this problem with the PC61 from San Mar. As far as printability though, most of the 6.1oz tees are very similar.

I totally agree with the Port Authority PC61. I use them pretty interchangeably with the Gildan 2000. The PC61 comes in a lot of larger sizes as well if you need really big sizes.

Love the PC61, great colors, great weight, customers love them.
I also had problems with the Gildan 2000 and oil stains, then I switched vendors and never had the problem again.

White shirts are all a little thin. I find that once they are run through the dryer the weave tightens up and they kind of "thicken" up a little.
You do need to watch for holes or other imperfections more so with white shirts. I would say there is about a 2% rate of imperfection in whites.

we started with the gildan ultra cotton, but have switched the port and co. pc61 in the past year. I would definately give them a try. We usually find them cheaper on average as well.

What's really nice with the PC61 is not everyone uses them or can get them. So if customers like them and specifically look for them its a plus. Also if your customers love them and try to competition shop you the shops they call may be able to get them.

Thanks, we are also using the Gildan 6.1. I just checked our pricing on the PC61. Will order a few samples on Monday.

I prefer Port Authority or Port & Co. But If the choice is between Gildan & Jerzees. Gildan all the way. 100% is better for screen-print. It holds ink better.

What do you mean not everyone can get them? All you have to do is open an account with Sanmar and you can get them.
