Default How important is the brand that you use?

How important is the brand of shirt that I am having printed? Does Champion or Gildan go for higher prices to retailers than Haines, etc..?

Also, does a company like addidas strictly do all their own printing and designing or do they offer their shirts to printers everywhere? Obviously I would think that a printed t-shirt that is Addidas brand would go for a higher rate than Hanes, or anvil.

Thanks.

The brands of blank tees you mention each have their own shape, quality of cotton, and a unique neck label. Some are made domestically, others overseas. Each of these variables affects the unit cost. Others might disagree with me here, but in my experience most people pay to have the tag removed and insert their own so that it is consistent with the branding of the graphics.

I think the most important element is the QUALITY of the tee. Retailers want quality tees that are soft to the hand and fit well. Larger companies "graduate" to a custom blank because they want better quality and something that stands out on the shelves. A company like Adidas is most likely making their own blanks.

There are companies that make high quality blanks just like Adidas; some have low minimum order quantities that you might able to handle.

Good luck!

The brand you print on is very important, as that brand is ultimately your brand. You should probably get some samples and make the decision based on what you think is best for your brand and market.

I would think re-labeling to your own brand is the best way to maximize your margins. But it probably also depends on the type of retailers you are looking to sell to (Macy's is going to have different standards than Walmart). But most retail buyers will probably be savvy enough to notice those small details when deciding how much to invest in your brand.

Printing on Adidas blanks would potentially create confusion in the marketplace as to whether it is an Adidas product or a different product. I don't know what the ramifications would be on that.

Very helpful stuff, thank you. I never thought about having the tag removed and replacing it with my own.

I only use bare apparel and yes your t -shirt brand is key!

I've been to many startup companies and they have used cheap shirts with killer designs and they stay on the shelf.
