Default do you think the color of the neck tag matters?

am i looking into this too much?

i have a deisgn made up for my neck tag, and a particualr color picked out for it (black and blue). the problem is im afraid this will clash with the colors of the actual shirts which vary from beige to purple to white to blue.

am i looking into this too much? any suggestions? should i just pick a neutral color for the neck tag such as white?

No you're not thinking about it too much (attention to detail is what elevates a brand), yes it matters, but no the tag doesn't have to match every possible colour combination of your actual shirts.

First and foremost, the tag needs to look good itself.

From there, personally I think there are two different but perfectly reasonable approaches: use different tags on different shirts, matching the look of the tag to the look of the shirt. Or use the same tag on every shirt, keeping consistent brand colours and image.

If you don't have consistent brand colours, then it makes sense to have the tag always match the shirt. But if you choose to put forth a consistent brand image instead, that's fine too.

Whatever you do, do it well. Beyond that, there are next to no absolutes.
