I've started a spreadshirt shop for my network for adult swim fans and am making shirts based on shows..like fan art.
Here is one example:

I don't use images or names only abbreviations but the categories and some names of shirts have the show names in them.
Is this legal? If not, is it legal to sell them if I don't tie them with the names of the shows?
Would it be legal if you gave them credit..say it's based on or fan art for the show in the description?
Also, what about quotes from shows?
I would post a link to the shop so you could get a better understanding but I don't know if it's okay to post a link.
Any answers would be much appreciated thanks.

this may or may not be legal you should talk to an auturney not here on the forum no one here can legaly advise you. Personaly I would think it would be illegal to do because show names have a copy right on them.

No, it's trademark infringement.

This is murkier, but probably still no. Definitely no if you're using any imagery from the shows. The mere fact that you're alluding to them and trying to form a connection in the viewer's mind means you're probably infringing on their trademark.

Not the answer you wanted to hear I'm sure, but it's the correct one. Pat is exactly right though: the forums aren't really the venue for legal advice. Some of this is easy, because what you're proposing is clearly illegal. As soon as it gets out of that black and white area though, you are best consulting a legal professional who can give you much better advice than we can.
