Default High Quality, Luxury Image Printing...Is ScreenPrinting the way to go? Reply

Whats up Gang?

First off all I just want to thank everyone that has ever contributed any useful info to this site. Your forum is hands down the most helpful, professional and cordial community that I have stumbled upon on the entire internet. I have been lurking for years and I have soaked up a wealth of information. This place is a virtual encyclopedia that is right in step with the constantly evolving genre. Anywayz...

I am passionately working on my own t-shirt line and I won't stop until I get the exact brand image and product that I envision. My goal is to launch a luxury brand to go toe to toe with the premiere street wear companies across the globe.

There are several shirt designs that I am planning to launch soon and I am currently researching the best printing methods for these t-shirts & sweaters. I need the designs to be a vibrant, faithful to the colors of the art and durable as possible. These will be aimed at the luxury market and need to stand toe to toe with the innovative printing methods used in places like Japan....Is screen printing right for these projects? (spot process, 4-color, plastisol transfer etc.) Or should I be leaning more towards heat transfers, dye sublimation, etc ?

Here are some examples of similar art pieces...

Are there any new developments/processes, experienced insight and relevant info that you guys & gals can offer?

Most of the designs will be done on dark shirts and only the outline of the characters and objects will be printed to create that lovely cinematic contrast (is there a technical term for this)? Ex.

Thanks a million.

You might want to look into DTG printing.

From what i've been reading on DTG, its not that durable and is better suited to limited runs.

Um screen printing is the best and only bet.

With large {Or very skilled small} companies, they will be able to print your image style with ease.

Using Simulated Process, Indexed, or even CMYK, a screenprinter can replicate the artwork to be very close to the original. {It will never be as good as the original, for many reasons}

Cost wise, it is the best. Production wise, it is the best. And durability wise, its the best.

Now your next bet is to go find a good separator, and printer!

Good luck!

Thanks for the response.

So litho transfers wouldn't be a viable option?

Is there anyway to add that shiny gloss (like in magazines; heat &vinyl tranfers) look to screen printed garments?

I'd say screen printing is the best option... That going to be some crazy artwork to separate though! hahaha.. You can have your entire image or certain areas of your print with a gloss over-lay. Just another layer of ink.
