I'm a newbie for t-shirt design. My logo have not registered yet as trade mark logo. I assume better sell first while looking for market as much as it can, then I register my logo to be trade marked when the market getting better. How do you think about it? is it a good step before selling? If finally I have to register my logo, is there a site that arrange trade mark registration? how about the cost? is there any site that arrange it for free of charge?
Hi Rue,
We applied for our trademark right after forming our LLC. We submitted the application in March and finally got registered in January! It's a long process and if you drop just one ball, you go back to the beginning! We used LegalZoom and if I remember correctly, it was under $1,000 and they file all forms. Go to uspto.gov to research doing it yourself. I don't believe it would be too difficult to register without help. If you have any questions, there is a phone number listed on the site and they are very helpful, which I found suprising! While your application is being reviewed you can use the TM behind your logo, once approved you go to R. Good luck!
Ok, it can be spend much money, apparel for golf is really expensive. Do you think it can be work? maybe anyone looking for the "branded" apparel for golf, what is your selling strategy?

We are attempting to create a brand. While most golf apparel are going after the 'elite' golfer (less than 15% of golfers), we are going after the majority, bad golfers! Our concept is unique 'cause it's short for Lack Of, ummmm, Talent! We feel this will be a successful brand as not only are we targeting the majority but we know the typical golfer always says how bad they are at the game. We are now interveiwing Independent Sales Reps to market our product to golf shops, golf courses, tournaments, etc. We displayed at the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando last Jan and did quite well...but only time will tell! BTW, we agree that most golf apparel is way to expensive, we are priced much cheaper and have real good quality stuff. I hate paying too much and wouldn't ask our customers to!
Yap, I agree with your strategy selling, making something different is very big change to make a market, even it takes big sacrifice too. Now, I have just started creating some t-shirt design, make something different, uniquely and limited. I tried to make t-shirt for 1 design only a dozen (12 pcs), most of my theme design is about social living. I hope we can share everything about making t-shirt, printing tech, etc.
