Default Copyrights of logos ON the product you are photgraphing

I am doing mostly muscle car shirts. It's nice to be able to put the cars logo on the shirt. I realize I just can't grab the logo off the companys website, but if I take a picture of the actual emblem on the car I am photographing, can I use that?

It seems a little gray to me, it's they're logo, but it's on something that is privately owned..

Thanks

As far as I know, you have to have a license (from the car manufacturer) to legally sell t-shirts or other products with car logos.

Yeah, pretty much. Essentially, they can claim that you are using their logo to sell their shirts (which is true) so you really don't have the leeway to use a logo in that manner.

Ok, thanks for the info.

I have actually contacted GM and Ford to see if they will grant me permission to use there logos. Haven't heard anything as of yet though!

Anyone ever have any luck getting permission for something like this?
