Wouldn’t you love an extra $1000 in your pocket? We are running a Contest that you will want to be a part of! Entering the contest is absolutely free. All you have to do is click here and fill out a survey. That’s it! The contest is open from May 25, 2017 through June 30, 2017.
Seems that only Americans can take the survey and be in the draw to win the $1K giftcard. Would have been ideal for this to be in the heading 'USA residents only' so as us Aussies wouldn't bother...
It's not as though they'd have to stick the card in the post.
oh, of course,, there could be a grand leaving the US shores! What am I talking about, That couldn't happen, The Ruskies would help keep the votes for the US up. and Europe has gone off the US since it's been confirmed they are going back to smoking (fossil fuel) so there's no help there for outsiders. There'd probably be a condition that it's only use-able in Amazon.com anyway in the T&C's.
Now where'd I put my Humbugs? (They're made in the UK you know)
Contest law varies significantly between different countries. If you were to open up a contest to people all over the world you would have to research the law in every single country on earth, to avoid getting yourself in legal trouble. For a smaller drawing like this one, that wouldn't be cost feasible. The legal fees for the required research would be significantly much more than prize. There are also problematic legal questions. For example, if something were to go wrong, or a contestant is disgruntled for some reason, what court would they go to?
Bottom line, it's just too much work for a company to find out how to cover themselves, legally, in multiple countries.
I'm sure it's because it is a lovely place to live. Universal health care, fantastic mild summers, good tea, better ales, very friendly people, people-focused government, historical lands, and, of course, the BBC. Did i mention the ales?
