I'm currently starting a little t-shirt brand, and I need to register as a business in order to order blank t-shirts at good prices. I'm having a good concept in my mind for t-shirts, I don't like to compare to other brands but for you to get a view, i'd say brands like Mishka, Supreme, Visvim, Alife, Undefeated etc.
yea try typing those into godaddy and see if you can get a .com out of any of them. All of those are solid names for the style your goin' for. The name itself doesnt have to be some genius word, branding and marketing will determine what it means to the customer. you can pick any name, its how you present it to your customers that defines it. The appearence of your brand will give it that certain ring like some of the others brands have. Personally i would go with "Offset". just my 2 cents.

Your name should reflect your concept. It's hard for someone to answer that for you, we have no idea what direction your going. Comparing mishka (which started as graffiti to streetwear) supreme (skateboard comp.) and visvim (high end fashion). Though they may be catergorized as streetwear they all high entirely different concepts, ex. Undefeated (sports) If you just pick a name because it sounds cool or you like the way it looks but it has no significance to your brand, you will have no structure, unity.
The two that stood out to me were Reckless and Admire. I like a name that I can remember easy, and recognize when I flip thru shirts on a rack.
Great advice by others to find out if the domain is available.
I would also use "whois" lookup, rather than a site that sells domain names (like Godaddy or NetSol). Lately, there are too many troubles with domain registrars "holding" names that are searched and upcharging when you come back later to buy it.
In addition to that, I would also look on Trademark.gov to see if a name is already registered for clothing, as you don't want an exisiting company coming after you once you drop money into branding and advertising, biz cards, and domain names, etc.
I used a program called Name Razor. Some folks like it, some don't. I liked it. I took all of the possibilities I had rolling thru my mind for months, popped them in there, and it offered variations galore and some really great alternates.
It didn't give me my "exact" name, but it lead me right to it by the suggestions it made.
It works for some, not for others. I guess if you do find your name using it, it works. I guess if you stay undecided, you feel like it didn't. It certainly never ends with possibilities... the more I put in, the more it spit back.
I think it cost me $20, and after almost 6 months with nothing I could commit to, I had my final name in like 2 days using Name Razor... and like any good name, I just *knew* it was right. It rolls off the tongue and I can't imagine another name.
Thanks, I could try Name Razor out. Also other people thanks for your opinions and ideas .
I can already scrap Offset (name is already taken by some other clothing companies) and Hardback (the .nl (nation's extension) turns out to be a big sm sex website which i dont want to be associated with haha) from my list :P

Where are you located? While the .nl name may be ok if you plan on staying local forever, .com is still the standard, and most common, way to find someone.
Even if you have to add another word, like contagiousapparel, or contagiouswear, etc., to your sitename, I would definitely look into a .com extension. You can still get the .nl name (both in contagious and the new name you pick for the .com address), and just point those addresses to your .com site name, or vice versa.
A lot of times there's a meaning behind the name. If you have a reason for designing the shirts, other than wanting to design and sell shirts, you might be able to come up with something based on that. If there is something in your life you admire and/or like you might play off that. You might even consider playing off a word in another language, such as taking one of the words you listed and checking it in other languages.

I'm in the Netherlands, and well I'm going to maybe register a .com later, but first off I want to sell some stuff just in my own country, hard enough.
Both the names Admire and Contagious have reasons why I think they would fit my designs and ideas about the brand, I'm not sure if they are "catchy" enough.
