T shirts with just letters on them. Nothing fancy at the moment. I just want to try printing shirts with text letters only. I remember years ago it could be done very cheap with a hot iron. I guess I am showing my age.
Re: Least expensive way to get started printing...
Sorry, I'm new and cant answer, yet would like to augment the question. Could you Type a word in large lettters, print it out and just heat press the word onto the garment? It seems that it should be that easy.
Re: Least expensive way to get started printing...
if you have a steady hand you could cut out stencils of your text and apply them with fabric paint onto the shirts. This is a cheap way to start and if you are good, you can make proffesional looking shirts that are way better than iron on transfers. Search "t-shirt stencils" on YouTube to find some videos.
Re: Least expensive way to get started printing...
If you want to establish a business then this is not the way. You need to invest in modern equipment - believe me you will get the return on your investment
Re: Least expensive way to get started printing...
I haven't done this but if you want to look, you can find letters and numbers of cut heat press vinyl and buy a few packs to try and see if you like that type feel and look. I do but
I have a cutter to cut my own. I like siser ezweed for heat press vinyl
Re: Least expensive way to get started printing...
If you really want to try something special, look into screen printing. You can make a cheep single color for little more than the cost of the screens and do custom designs with art as well as letters and numbers.

Re: Least expensive way to get started printing...
I think what I was trying to say was;
look at the T shirt signatures under each persons screen name.
It says HELLO
72697 or something like that
I was a assuming you could do it on an 8x11" transfer paper. I think this was the question asked. Pro World sells letters that can be heat transferred. One draw back to any kind of lettering kit is that they give only 2 or 3 J's or b's and it seems they are the most popular, thus leaving you with a lot of unused letters after they are used up.
Re: Least expensive way to get started printing...
Starting out with simple Digital transfers is always a great way to go starting out. If you have a computer and can spend some cash on a setup with a Epson C88 with a bulk ink system you could start doing custom shirts and a very low start up cost.
Re: Least expensive way to get started printing...
No not really you can use a household Iron but make sure it gives off enough heat to produce a nice transfer process. Also do a little research on what time duration you should press the design onto your Tee and how long to leave until you peel and then wash. Plus it is a good way to get clued up on other processes find a style that suits you
But good luck with your adventure anyway dude!

Like Paul said you can use an iron but if you have the money invest in a commercial press. The Epson C88 is a great starting place for beginners and there are a lot of people on this forum who can direct you in this process. Digital Transfers allow you to do custom shirts, one off's and large orders relatively easily.
Re: Least expensive way to get started printing...
Okay so if I decided to do text transfer and maybe personal pictures to shirts, could someone list for me what exactly I would need to get started with the general costs.
Re: Least expensive way to get started printing...
I just saw a site called "Inkquick" that sells Epson "Remanufactured cartriges for around $5,6 new Epsons for about $13,15.
Anyone know about the remanufactured?
