Default Max Shipping

I'm located in Buenos Aires, Argentina. We are selling our t-shirts to retail stores all over our country. Now we want to sell worldwide but one of our biggest obstacles are the shipping costs. For example, to send 2.2pound(minimum) to USA we must pay near $30. Thatīs a lot of difference against USPS ($5) for example.
Can you tell me which is the max shipping cost a customer could pay? Any suggestion?
Sorry for my english.

This forum is great! Lot of very interesting topics, very useful info.
Pampa.

Are you trying to selling retail worldwide?

A single t-shirt shipped usually weighs under 1 pound. How much (in USD) would a package 1 pound or under cost to ship in your country by the least expensive method?

Yes, we want to sell retail worldwide.
I now that that 1 t-shirt weights under 1 pound, but the minimun weight allowed to send worldwide is 1kg
(2.2 pounds).
We can ship all over our country for $3.

Ok, I think I understand.

So the minimum that a customer would have to pay to get your t-shirt would be $30 USD which would cover your shipping costs?

If that is the actual shipping costs (it sounds very high), I think you should just offer it as is and just explain the costs and where you are shipping from. Let the customer decide if it is worth it or not for them.

I wouldn't "suggest" to the customer that it might be expensive; let them decide on their own

No, actually is 1 t-shirt = $15 + $30 shipping = $45.
I could say on our webpage: 1 t-shirt $25 + $20 shipping = $45.
But $45 itīs very high for 1 t-shirt, what do you think?

That might be a better way to "spin" it for US visitors, but what about the shoppers within your country? I guess you could sell the shirt for the same price ($25) And offer free shipping within your country.

To tell you the truth, it doesn't matter what I think or what you think, it only matters what the customer thinks when they see your design.

Think of it this way: It does you NO harm to put the design up for sale for $25 plus $20 shipping for US customers. You can only gain more sales/customers You can't "lose" any customers.

Some customers will think it's too high and not purchase, but there will be other customers who HAVE to have your t-shirt and won't mind paying the shipping costs. I've seen (and purchased) t-shirts more expensive and less exepnsive than $45. It depends on that "gotta have it" factor.

You don't want to lose money for shipping, so I would just make sure the shiping costs are correct and go for it

Also, since it'll be $30 shipping for one shirt or for multiple shirts, you might want to work out how many shirts you can ship for the $30 and emphasise some kind of 3 pack deal or something?
