Default Branding and Target Audiences

Hi,
I'm an online shopkeeper. I'm pretty new at this, so I have many questions.

How many of you have a specific target audience?
Would you advise me to nerrow my target audience in order to increase my buyers?
How do you handle the branding issue?

Definitly identify your target market. If you are marketing to your target audience there's no need to narrow your reach.

What do you mean handling the branding issue?

Well, I'm just starting out, and a good friend (a pro advisor) told me I should have more focus. I pretty much target women, but she sais I should have a specific age group as well.
Also I've been having thoughts about narrowing my products to womens apparel only.
I'd really like to hear more oppinions.

If you are specifically targeting women she is correct in saying you should also shoot for a specific demographic age group. An example would be Women aged 18-34. If that's your target audience it would only make sense to narrow your product line to only women's apparel.

After you've found your target you should focus on the designs, what king of shirts people will buy, slogans, graphics, etc...
