Default Start up and Initial Costs

I'm just curious about what you guys think my start up and initial costs might be. I'm not asking for an accurate figue just basically estimated figures. I have a fixed cost per t-shirt, internet domain registration cost (no labour costs) and I'm not quite sure if there's anything else to it... Any advice or information? Thanks

If you are going to be screen printing yourself a few grand shoud get you a good four color press, used dryer, screens and ink. If you go with one of the print on demand services it'd be just the cost of signing up if any.

My uncle owns a company and has a machine with which he can create t-shirts. He has a cost per t-shirt for me and I would go down there and print the t-shirts myself. So basically there would only be cost for the t-shirt and these t-shirts are REALLY high quality so my mark-up profit wouldn't be too high but still good enough. I'm not in it for the profit at all. I'm not exactly thinking I'll make 2 billuion dollars by tomorrow, more like a couple hundred a month IF I'm lucky.
But I need advice for pre-order. How many t-shirts should I pre-order? I'm thinking 30 would be enough to start off for the first couple weeks and see how things go. What do you guys think?

(It depends on how many colors, styles and sizes you are going to offer. Nationwide suppliers like broder bros which have a lot of warehouses around the states have a minimum order of one shirt and if you are close to one of their warehouses you''ll get your order the nest day.

I would say you could get by with 2-6 of each size to start if you are going to print them as they are sold.

Yeah I guess so. I was thinking of selling them on request. So for example, if someone orders a t-shirt, I would print and then send and not have the pre-designed. I think I'll go with 2-6 at each size. I'm still doing my market research so I'll make sure to check what most sizes are...

Wow! Are you serious? But where do you make most of your sales? In person or over the internet?

Wow. I think you guys just saved my whole business :P I tottally forgot about the sizing and didn't take it that seriously into consideration... But I never knew that xxl and xxxl are bought more than smaller sizes. Oh, I have a question. Is there a place on this site where I could post a questionnaire or something and people answer to it if they wanted to or is that not allowed? (I'm new so just wondering :P)

How can he give you a fixed cost per "finished" shirt? The shirt price alone I can see, but what about the additional costs of colors (number of) and the size of the design(s)?

Personally, I'm going to start out with 100 shirts. I'm not sure how I'm going to break them down though.

How will you be selling these shirts? Online, b&m, shows?

Oh sorry my bad. Not per finished t-shirt but for t-shirt only. I'm thinking of selling them through the internet and also by self-promotionwise mainly by telling people about it and seeing if they want it. Like for graduation, I could design 300 t-shirts with everyone's names and thats 300 sales in my pocket... Know what I mean? Sorry for not being clear at first.

Either sounds good, and potentially the same (S-2XL @ 6ea = 30 shirts).

Not a questionnaire as such, but if you have a simple question you can post it in the form of a poll when you post a new thread.

Alternatively you can just ask for people's opinions, but that won't give you a firm comitted (not to mention anonymous and slightly more honest) answer.
