Have been checking out some prices for womens t-shirts and embroidery services as would like but am surprised at the pricing! Eg to get blank tees from Continental is £3+ exc. embroidery. Should I really be paying more for wholesale than I could in the cheaper high street retailers for a printed t-shirt?!! Or am I getting this seriously wrong?
Hi Kate, Continental are a premium range and you do pay, in some cases twice as much for garments like that. You can get them cheaper. That was the brand they used on the WAGS Boutique program, don't know if you saw it.
Embroidery is more expensive than printing and that would show in the retail price of the t-shirt.
It takes a lot less time to print 100 t-shirts than to embroider 100 t-shirts so I would expect to pay more. The t-shirts from the cheaper retailers you mention would not be as good quality.
Why do you want your designs embroidered? and would it be an option to print instead?

Try Ralawise.com, open an account and you can see all prices online.
Also bbleisurewear.co.uk have good quality garments.
If it's just small embroidered logos, how about patches from thecreativenut, they are excellent quality and I have used the ones that can be heatpressed on many times without problems. My test shirt has been washed 15 times+ and still looks the same, there is no loss of colour or puckering.
It depends what quality you are after with the t-shirts, £3 is not too much if they are selling for £15.

The beauty with the patches is you can do them when you like, on only a few so no stock hanging around and they can be put anywhere on the garment. You can also put them on hats, bags etc.
My first order was for 100 patches about 5cm x 3cm, silver on black, I think they worked out at about 40p each.
