Default What is more expensive and difficult to print?

Among these two:

1. A shirt that has 4 colors but has a small simple design (with well defined shapes for instance)
2. A shirt that has fewer colors (say 2-3) but has a very complex design (very thin lines and textures) and large on the shirt.

Considering of course that it would be mass produced (say 1000 or so shirts) and not just per piece.

All things being equal, the larger shirt will be more difficult. The difference between 3 and 4 colors ain't a difference. The problem would be if one has gradients and color transitions. The fine detail will be harder to burn/print/ and keep stencil from degrading.

I agree. With fine detail the mesh can fill in with ink and you'll need to burn additional screens to get a consistant print.

Four colors would cost more most of the time depending on the oversize of printing. Also comes down to what color of shirt? Discharge? Waterbase? A good printer would have a range of mesh counts to handle any job. As far as whats more difficult I would say the larger print just because it would take longer on an auto because of the stroke size. Need to also take into account color of shirt, flash.....
