Question On To The Next Steps.. But How? (Shirts Selling + Forming a Team)

Hi!

First off, i hope i'm placing this topic on the right place.

I'm dealing with a (small) problem, but very willing to do what it takes to get things
up-n-running.

Soo, i have finished my website (which is not only aimed towards selling shirts, but also a creative community for (young) creatives), and not long ago i've done a Show-&-Tell on school about my website & plans. after that, i've passed out free stickers which includes the website's URL. I'm happy many students liked my plans + stickers, including the teacher, and i even managed to give her a sticker

Now i have two weeks of vacation due to christmas time, and in these weeks i'd like to draw, design and plan on how i can both sell the rest of my shirts (to, for example, students. price = € 25 each ($ 34.-), people do like it!), and find willing peeps at school who can help out with the website (joining the team). Currently, i'm working allong with my best friend, who i knew since middle school. He works hard, is enthousiastic and really helps thinking about what more we could do. (due to all this i made him the co-founder )

but we both agree that (looking at the plans we have) we're in need of some more creative people to help out. luckely, i'm studying graphic design, so my school is full of creatives, but i just dont really know how i can effectively ask/find someone to join up & know at the same time that he/she will spend some time really helping out (even if it's just with the latest news on the site), cuzz to be honest, it's sad to know that there are many lazy folks out there, who find taking chances a "pain". =(

I really dream of having a creative company & team, that has the goal to create arts & inspire and motivate fellow youngsters, and to stand for what you believe in.. kinda what i call a Creative Revolution.

So, any advise or tips for this?

Thanks! (*pfoe*, long story..=|)

if it were community driven then it might give people incentive to help, otherwise it looks like you're just looking for free help with no incentive for anyone but yourself. the trick is to come up with a business model that helps you and those that are helping your dream become a reality. unfortunately in this day and age there are few who are willing to do something for nothing.

I really wish i could pay them, but because i'm just starting out, i cant yet.
, but i really will! So i geuss i should do some thinking.. But there is one thing they can get from helping out in the team, and that's getting one new design shirt free, if they want.

BTW Thanks for replying!

I've been approached a couple times to do t-shirt designs for free and get a commission after the products been sold. Every time it's been a company that is just starting and can't pay me the money up front. It's shady, I won't do it. Bottom line is work out a deal where you can pay them or give them something in return for their services.

I've made a website in return for a painting in the past. Be creative and think of what you have to offer.

Give the kids on the "street team" shirts, and tell them for every shirt they sell, they get a cut. Not much, but enough to make both you and them happy with the result. The harder they work and the better they are, the more they make. If they don't sell anything, they don't make anything - their own fault. The best part is, they only get paid if you're getting paid, so you don't hafta worry about not having enough money to pay them.

Commission.
