Default Start-up help - 2 questions

Hello everyone.

About the proper care and feeding of t-shirts and fabric before heat pressing.....

*Do you pre wash the t's even if they are 'pre-washed' such as Gilden, and, if so, cold or warm water?

*I hear talk of stretching the fabric before pressing. Is this true?

Thanks for your imput.

You pre-press your t-shirt with your heat press for about 10-15 secs to release all the moisture from the garment. I never heard of pre-washing your t's before printing.

Stretching the fabric? I never had to stretch a piece of fabric for doing this, maybe some heat transfer paper would require this, but not to sure though i never done this. Hope this helps.

If you are using a soft stretch transfer paper then you will stretch the fabric "AFTER" pressing but not before, I have heard of stretching ribbed tees before pressing but have actually never printed on ribbed tees so I can't say for sure.

Katrina,
Thanks for the reply. Is there a proper way to stretch - ie while still warm or cold. I would imagine not to stretch too much, but rather a half inch or so. Is this right?

I'll be using JPSS.

Thanks

Stretch while warm. Right after pressing and removing the transfer paper i immediately give the shirt a stretch.

Here is a video from badalou I swiped from you tube. Check it out it shows you how to use JPSS. Lou is a great help and also posts on this forum.

Thank you so much. It's very informative. YouTube is another good reference site, I see.
