Default Online printshops or Local?

I have been trying to figure out what road to go down for my first order of shirts...I have been looking at quite a few online companys like Inkscreens, merchspin, mammoth printshop, etc....I am from colorado and have yet to find a printer here that does the quality work that these companies do....or at least the local shops with websites dont show it. Has anyone used any of the above companies or even better yet, has anyone used a printer in Colorado that does great work? I would realy love to avoid shipping costs.

Thanks!!

Shipping costs are usually less than sales tax in most states. You don't pay sales tax if you buy from an out of state printer.

i'm in the same boat. I found one local company that looks great -- their prices are decent but their turnaround time is 1-2 weeks. I found another online company that has prices comparable to the local one i've been looking at but their turnaround time is faster is only a couple of days. I may end up using both

But make sure you file it on your tax return lol.

If you have a retail sales permit, you shouldn't be paying sales tax on inventory items.

I prefer local just for the simple fact that I can work more closely with them and if there is a problem, I can get it corrected usually immediately. Of course, the lead time is a lot longer but if you are selling wholesale, then it should not be a big problem unless you are supplying ready-to-wear t-shirts to retailers.

Unless you are doing large volumes of shirts you should use local printers. You can do press checks with someone local and the relationship is worth tons. 1-2 week turn around times are not that bad if the quality is good. If some one has a shorter time it could be because they are not busy. We generally have a two week turn around time. One week for art, one week for printing. We often get things printed sooner but we tell customers 2 weeks because the customer is delaying on approval or making decisions on sizes or something of that sort. We turn around contract orders in 5 days. Their art and shirts are sent from them and we don't have to deal with approvals.
