Default Contract out or machine?

Hey! I have been researching opening a online clothing line. I have been trying to gather as much info as I can, and any more knowledge you have to bestow would be great I'm almost positive that I am going to screenprint as my medium. From reading past experiences I was wondering... Would it be better to have all your shirts done by a screenprinter then shipped to you. I noticed alot of you have your own machines, but I see this as a big distraction from actually growing the buisness. Is there anyone who has done both that has a opinion or any advice. I also think subcontracting out would cut down on the initial startup cost.

Thanks for reading,
Eagle91

I have my own screen press and have control over what happens. That is what I like about having it, the other side is I need to have someone run the press so that I can grow the business.

You mention initial costs, but don't forget the initial headachs....

If you are planning to start a clothing line, focus on that and leave the printing to the pros. You will have much more time and energy focusing on the design/business aspects of your line, rather then worrying about, vendors, learning how to print properly, investing in equipment and space and money for tylenol.
