Just curious ... other than the bad grammar/punctuation and the odd salutation, how do you know this is a scam? I don't see anything blatantly obvious that might send up a red flag to someone not familiar with these scams.

Rhonda,
I get these types of emails several times throughout the year, wanting large orders for banners, decals, t-shirts, you name it...they want it.
I played along with one a few months ago, someone requesting banners for a church org. and the total order came to $7,500.00. The person placing the order tried to use (2) different credit cards to pay for them and both ended up being stolen.
It's always come church org., Feed the children, or some other charitable org. placing these large orders, least that's what they claim tobe, which they are not.
Gotcha. I have gotten a few emails but it was very obvious to me that they were scams. They will want to order 200 shirts immediately, but don't specify which shirt ... weird things like that.
Next time maybe I will play along and send them a box full of dog poo.
we got one very similar to this one a couple weeks ago. Every so often we get these types of requests but they are usually for t-shirts. This was the first one for signage.
I new I recognized the name this is from another blog I frequent.

If you get an E-Mail you think is a scam, do a google search for the name plus the word scam and see how many hits you get. I am usually amazed at how many hits pop up these people are very busy doing this.

I don't do signage, but why on earth would anyone want 100 24"x60" banners saying "Christian Methodist Church"? Seems like an awfully large banner to need that many of.
lol.. they dont want the banners.. they want moneyyyyyyyyyyyyy.
The scam is never about getting the merchadise its about paying you with stollen credit cards or fake cashier checks.. and then having you pay their fake shipping company the differance in cash.. or your money.. like a couple thousands.
so you have a credit card used by them that will not pay you in the end.. or a check that will bounce and they have your real money..

They often use things like church messages.. like the one above..
Or somthing like Jesus is Love..etc.. to throw people off.. thinking.. ooo its a church it has to be real.. ..

After several years online and many years without having my email protected, I get hundreds of these emails a week.
That's the first one I've heard that deals with signs (but then again, I don't do signs). But I've got a lot of them that want blank t-shirts, printed t-shirts, etc.
I've even had them go so far as to call on the phone using the TDD (phone system for the deaf) and try to order 1000's of blank t-shirts. They probably used the TDD system because they didn't want me to hear their accent. It also allows them to just type their email out and have someone else read it.
Why do all the scammers start off with have a blessed day or god bless, and this one is for a church. I always send them nasty emails in my reply. well I should say I give them a price and then when the 2nd email comes in about the credit card or cashiers check that is already made out and all I have to do is send the remainder back that's when I get started on them
Also forgot to mention so that nobody here falls for it, a friend of mine just got a overnight delivery from dhl with two $750.00 money orders to cash and then she was to send back 10% by western union. She filed a police report and they told her someone in the area lst year got 5 of them and he cashed them and is looking at jail time because he could not pay the money back.
I just want to know who is paying the dhl fees and if they can scam why not put the knowledge to work in a real job.
